On February 28, 2023, The City of Lawrenceburg and altafiber completed the transaction in which altafiber will acquire Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications’ broadband infrastructure, which provides high-speed Internet connectivity to residential, commercial, and municipal customers.

With a history that spans more than 150 years and more than 1,500 current employees based in Greater Cincinnati, altafiber is an experienced communications and entertainment service provider.  In addition to delivering high-speed fiber internet, altafiber will expand the services available to Lawrenceburg residents to include video and voice service over the next year. altafiber will also provide free public Wi-Fi in strategic areas of the city.

Why have I not received my Lawrenceburg Broadband Communication bill?

Concerning your fiber internet billing. Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications will no longer be billing for internet service, and your March bill for April service was the last invoice that you will receive from the City of Lawrenceburg. altafiber will be contacting you to schedule a technician visit to migrate your service to altafiber equipment and billing. Customers will be contacted as the migration process rolls out in phases throughout the spring and summer. Your bill cycle with altafiber will begin on or around your date of migration, and you will be billed in advance for services from that point forward.

What is the timeline for altafiber to assume responsibility for the fiber infrastructure?

The transaction was closed and completed on February 28, 2023.

As part of the transaction, the City has agreed to provide certain customer support and network operations functions on altafiber’s behalf for a transition period to insure continuity of service for Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications customers. During that transition, altafiber will begin migrating existing customers to the altafiber services platform on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis, a process that is expected to take up to 180 days to complete.

When will the transition of services from Lawrenceburg Broadband Communication to altafiber begin?

In the coming weeks, an altafiber migration specialist will contact you to walk through the migration process and discuss available services, speeds and prices. The migration specialist will also work with you to select a convenient date and time for an altafiber field technician to visit your address and transfer your current Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications services to altafiber’s Fioptics network.

I am a Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications residential customer. Will my Internet service change when the transaction is completed?

Your service will not change. altafiber is committed to providing you with an outstanding customer experience. In addition, altafiber plans to introduce new services including video and voice over the next year.

Who should I contact if I am interested in altafiber service?

altafiber will reach out to existing customers, as well as new customers, as each neighborhood is released for sale by altafiber. At that time, voice and cable TV may also be added to the service bundle.

What is altafiber’s Internet pricing?

Lawrenceburg residential customers will have access to symmetrical fiber internet plans starting as low as $49.98 per month. The following internet tiers are our most popular. More information on plans and pricing will be made available as fiber becomes available in your area. 

•    500 mbps download / 500 mbps upload $49.98 for 24 months. 
•    1 Gbps download / 1 Gbps upload $69.98 for 24 months. 

Promotional pricing includes rented modem, but does not include taxes and fees. 

What can I expect prior to and during the installation appointment?

Prior to your appointment, an altafiber technician will attempt to contact you via phone to confirm the scheduled time and any additional details. If the call-ahead reminder is not answered, your technician will leave a voicemail regarding the missed visit with instructions on scheduling a different appointment window. 

During the migration appointment, there will be a brief interruption of internet services, lasting up to one hour, while the technician upgrades equipment to work on our network. Before leaving your home, the technician will confirm your service is running as expected, give you an overview of your new equipment, and answer any questions you may have.  

Do I have to change how I pay my bill?

To help ensure a smooth transition of services, make sure to continue to pay your Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications bills and that your account remains current throughout the transition period. Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications will issue a bill on behalf of altafiber in early March for service in the month of April.  altafiber will provide customers with further information regarding billing for their migrated service at the time of migration.

Which organization should I contact if there is an issue with my service?

During the transition period and prior to the migration of your service to altafiber, please continue to contact Lawrenceburg Broadband Communications if you have service issues. During your migration appointment, the altafiber technician will provide you with information on how to resolve service issues. altafiber offers multiple communication channels including voice, e-mail, and chat.

I am a business owner. What will this change mean for me?

Will you raise my prices once the transaction closes?

altafiber’s Internet pricing is generally as good as or better than Lawrenceburg today. In addition, altafiber has agreed to honor the pricing for residential customers who were subscribed to the $19.99/month plan at the same or better speed for a period of 24 months after the close of the transaction. Further, altafiber participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, and post-closing of the transaction any current or new customer will be eligible to apply for the $30 discount to the Internet.
