What Area Does Lawernceburg Main Street Serve?

Lawrenceburg Main Street serves the area that extends from US50 south to the Ohio River bounded by Tanners Creek on the west and the Casino on the east, as well as the area north of US50 to the Greendale boundary bounded by Tanners Creek on the west and the school corporation to the east.

Can I Become a Part Lawrenceburg Main Street?

Absolutely! New members are always welcome and dues are very affordable and assist in supporting our programs and events. In addition a variety of attractive sponsorship opportunities at a wide range of contribution levels are also available.

Volunteers play an important role and so we welcome you to share your talents with us and enjoy yourself at the same time. Volunteer for a single event/program or several events/programs, whatever your schedule will accommodate. Interested? Does Lawrenceburg Main Street Offer Grant Programs to Assist Businesses?

A Sign / Awning Grant Program offers a 50% match up to $1000 for approved signage and or awnings. In addition the Paint / Façade Grant Program offers a 50% match up to $1000 for approved exterior building improvements. New businesses moving into a location may also access funds under this program for approved interior improvements. Applications for these grants are available online at this website or at the Main Street office, 118 Walnut St. The Design Committee reviews all applications and passes on recommendations to the Main Street Board of Directors for final approval. Not all grants are approved.

All improvements must meet City Planning and Zoning requirements and receive approval by the Historic Commission, if the improvement is located within the Historic District. Lawrenceburg Planning and Zoning Officer, Mike Clark, 812-532-3554, should be contacted if you have questions.

Does Lawrenceburg Main Street Offer Any Other Programs to Assist New Businesses?

A new business “Welcome Package” includes an official Ribbon Cutting, radio spots, a newspaper ad, and a professionally written story about you and your business. The package is offered compliments of Lawrenceburg Main Street.

Currently Main Street does not offer a program for business startups, but the staff and Board are dedicated to finding solutions that will enable well suited businesses to locate in our Downtown.

Currently there is no Revolving Loan Fund either through Main Street or the City of Lawrenceburg.

What Steps Do I Need to Take to Open a Business in Downtown Lawrenceburg?

Of course finding a location is the first step and the staff of Main Street will be happy to assist with a list of currently available properties. Already identified a location? Then you’re ready to move on.

Lawrenceburg Planning and Zoning Officer, Mike Clark, 812-532-3554, should be contacted to guide you through the City’s permitting process. The City will require you to obtain a Business License ($50), a “New Tenant” Location Permit ($25), and a Signage Permit (varies but average $50). Additional permitting may be required based on the location and any additional physical improvements that need to be made.

The staff at Lawrenceburg Main Street (812-537-4507) is always available to assist you in any way that we can, so if you are considering opening a new business we hope you’ll stop in and introduce yourself. And when the time is right we’ll be there to assist in introducing you to the community.

What Locations Are Available for Office or Retail Business?

Before a location can be identified, the inquiry needs to be qualified. What kind of business? How much space will be needed? How soon is the space needed? Is this a lease or purchase situation. Once those questions are answered you can be directed to the appropriate website listing(s) or provided the property owner’s contact information.

Are Funds available for Residential Improvements?

A $500 grant is available for owner occupied exterior residential improvements. “Before” photos and a cost estimate must be included with the application. Applications are available online at this website or at the Main Street office, 118 Walnut St. The Design Committee reviews all applications and passes on recommendations to the Main Street Board for final approval.

Some exterior changes and paint colors are subject to review and approval of the Historic Commission if located in the downtown Historic District.

How Are Bands Selected for the Music on the River Series?

The Music on the River Committee reviews materials submitted by interested musical groups. Selections are based on a number of consideration including musical genre and budgetary constraints. The review and selection process typically takes place from January to March. The submission of materials including CDs, brochures, website and YouTube information is very helpful and often critical in determining the Committee’s choices.   Materials may be emailed to info@thinklawrenceburg.com or sent to Lawrenceburg Main Street, 118 Walnut St., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.
